Last year, the Otago Regional Council decided to support a Lake Wakatipu water ferry service as integral to the public transport network. After our petition, a public hearing and a change to the Regional Public Transport Plan change, ORC signalled its support for the long term provision of a Ferry service which will involve public investment and, hopefully, a more frequent and more extensive service over time – see our blog of 26 February 2020.
ORC is now consulting on its draft Regional Public Transport Plan proposed for the next decade: https://www.orc.govt.nz/media/9859/draft-otago-regional-public-transport-plan-2021-2031.pdf
KPCA has responded with a submission in support of the Ferry service, pointing out ways in which the draft plan needs to be improved to reflect a service which is truely integrated into the Wakatipu public transport network.
Consultation closes on May 24th. If you want to express your support for the Ferry service, go to the ORC page: https://yoursay.orc.govt.nz/
