KPCA will hold its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday, 29 March 2023, at 7:00pm at the Queenstown Golf Club. The AGM papers will be circulated nearer the day, but please mark your diaries in the meantime. All Peninsula residents are welcome to attend, whether or not a member of KPCA.
There is much to discuss of the year’s activities which will be covered in the Chair’s report – including the ongoing building of our capability of responding to an emergency, whether climate or tectonic related; our predator free 2050 programme; and the need to develop our community engagement activities. Your feedback on the night will be most welcome.
Our guest speakers at the AGM will be Jon Bitcheno and Jayne Macdonald, representatives of the Lakes District Hospital Foundation. The Foundation was established in 2016 to support the provision of healthcare services for the Lakes District community, including visitors. This has been achieved primarily through support to the Lakes District Hospital in terms of helping to fund projects and other costs not provided by government.
Since its inception, the Foundation has raised over $1.28m in funds and notable achievements include the provision of a CT Scanner, Whanau Room, purchase of a Laerdal simulation training aid, purchase of furniture for staff room and doctors’ cottage and ongoing funding of nurses continuing education.
Following the disestablishment of the District Health Boards system, the Foundation is reviewing how it can best serve the community’s needs into the future under the new structure, Te Whatu Ora. As part of that review process, it is consulting widely with different members of the community to discuss this, receive feedback, understand the key issues and move forward accordingly.
We look forward to seeing you there.
